[1522] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is clung-to and subject to clinging (upādinnupādāniya) is a condition for a phenomenon that is not clung-to and not subject to clinging (anupādinna-anupādāniya) by way of decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya).
Natural decisive support (pakatūpanissaya): In dependence on bodily pleasure (kāyika sukha), one gives rise to the path (magga) and enters the attainment of fruition (phala-samāpatti); in dependence on bodily pain (kāyika dukkha) … climate (utu) … food (bhojana), one gives rise to the path and enters the attainment of fruition.
Bodily pleasure … bodily pain … climate … food is a condition for the path, for the attainment of fruition, by way of decisive-support condition.
