[1684] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is undefiled but subject to defilement (asaṅkiliṭṭha-saṅkilesika) is a condition for a phenomenon that is undefiled but subject to defilement by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya): object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati) and conascence-predominance (sahajātādhipati).
Object-predominance: Having given a gift (dāna), having undertaken virtue (sīla), having performed the Uposatha observance (uposathakamma), one gives weight to that and reviews it; one gives weight to what was formerly well practiced and reviews it; having emerged from jhāna, one gives weight to the jhāna and reviews it. Trainees (sekkhā) give weight to change-of-lineage (gotrabhū) and review it; they give weight to cleansing (vodāna) and review it.
Conascence-predominance: Predominance that is undefiled but subject to defilement is a condition for the associated aggregates (khandhā) and for the forms originated by mind (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) by predominance condition.
