[146] A not-root phenomenon (dhamma) accompanied by roots (na-hetu sahetuka) is a condition for a not-root phenomenon accompanied by roots by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya): object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati) and conascence-predominance (sahajātādhipati).
Object-predominance: having given a gift (dāna) and undertaken virtue (sīla), one esteems that and reviews it. One reviews what was formerly well practiced. Having emerged from jhāna, one esteems the jhāna and reviews it. The noble ones, having emerged from the path (magga), esteem the path and review it; they esteem the fruition (phala) and review it. Having esteemed the not-root aggregates (khandhā) accompanied by roots, one relishes and delights in them; having esteemed that, lust (rāga) arises, view (diṭṭhi) arises.
Conascence-predominance: a not-root predominance (adhipati) accompanied by roots is a condition for the associated aggregates by predominance condition.
A not-root phenomenon accompanied by roots is a condition for a not-root phenomenon without roots (na-hetu ahetuka) by predominance condition: conascence-predominance: a not-root predominance accompanied by roots is a condition for mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) by predominance condition.
A not-root phenomenon accompanied by roots is a condition both for a not-root phenomenon accompanied by roots and for a not-root phenomenon without roots by predominance condition: conascence-predominance: a not-root predominance accompanied by roots is a condition for the associated aggregates and for mind-originated forms by predominance condition.
A not-root phenomenon without roots is a condition for a not-root phenomenon accompanied by roots by predominance condition: object-predominance: the noble ones esteem Nibbāna and review it. Nibbāna is a condition for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū), for cleansing (vodāna), for the path, and for fruition by predominance condition. The eye … the base … having esteemed the not-root aggregates without roots, one relishes and delights in them; having esteemed that, lust arises, view arises.
