[145] A not-root, with-root phenomenon (nahetu sahetuko dhammo) is a condition for a not-root, with-root phenomenon by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya):
Giving (dāna) … virtue (sīla) … the uposatha observance (uposathakamma) … they review it; they review what was formerly well practiced; jhāna …
The noble ones (ariyā), having emerged from the path, review the path; they review the fruit (phala); (they review) the defilements (kilesa) that have been abandoned …, the defilements that have been suppressed …, formerly …
(One contemplates) not-root, with-root aggregates (khandhā) as impermanent …; grief arises.
When the wholesome and the unwholesome (kusala, akusala) have ceased, a not-root, with-root resultant (vipāka) arises as registration (tadārammaṇatā).
By the knowledge of penetrating others' minds (cetopariya-ñāṇa) one knows the mind (citta) of one who possesses a not-root, with-root mind.
The sphere of infinity of space (ākāsānañcāyatana) (is a condition) for the sphere of infinity of consciousness (viññāṇañcāyatana), the sphere of nothingness (ākiñcaññāyatana) for the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana);
not-root, with-root aggregates are a condition by object condition for the knowledge (ñāṇa) of supernormal powers (iddhividha-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of penetrating others' minds, for the knowledge of the recollection of past lives (pubbenivāsānussati-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of beings faring according to their kamma (yathākammūpaga-ñāṇa), and for the knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsa-ñāṇa).
Taking as object not-root, with-root aggregates, not-root, with-root aggregates arise.
A not-root, with-root phenomenon is a condition for a not-root, rootless (ahetuka) phenomenon by object condition:
(One contemplates) not-root, with-root aggregates as impermanent …; grief arises.
