[1701] An undefiled-but-subject-to-defilement (asaṅkiliṭṭha-saṅkilesika) phenomenon (dhamma) is a condition, by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya), for an undefiled-and-not-subject-to-defilement (asaṅkiliṭṭha-asaṅkilesika) phenomenon: proximate decisive support (anantarūpanissaya) and natural decisive support (pakatūpanissaya). Natural decisive support: The preliminary work (parikamma) for the first path is a condition, by decisive-support condition, for the first path … for the second, for the third, for the fourth path.
