[1525] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is not clung to but subject to clinging (anupādinnupādāniya) is a condition, by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is not clung to and not subject to clinging (anupādinna-anupādāniya) — [twofold:] proximate decisive support (anantarūpanissaya) and natural decisive support (pakatūpanissaya).
Natural decisive support: the preliminary work (parikamma) for the first path is a condition, by decisive-support condition, for the first path; [the preliminary work] for the second path [is a condition for the second path]; [the preliminary work] for the third path [is a condition for the third path]; the preliminary work for the fourth path is a condition, by decisive-support condition, for the fourth path.
