[497] A wholesome phenomenon (kusalo dhammo) is a condition for an unwholesome (akusala) phenomenon by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya).
Object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati): Having given a gift (dāna), having undertaken virtue (sīla), having performed the Uposatha observance (uposathakamma), one gives weight to that and relishes it, delights in it; when one gives weight to that, lust (rāga) arises, wrong view (diṭṭhi) arises.
One gives weight to (deeds) well done in the past and relishes them, delights in them; when one gives weight to that, lust arises, wrong view arises.
Having emerged from jhāna, one gives weight to the jhāna and relishes it, delights in it; when one gives weight to that, lust arises, wrong view arises.
