[1257] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is neither of a trainee nor of one beyond training (nevasekkhānāsekkha) is a condition, by immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya), for a phenomenon of a trainee (sekkha): Change-of-lineage (gotrabhu) [is a condition] for the path (magga); cleansing (vodāna) [is a condition] for the path; conformity (anuloma) [is a condition] for the fruition attainment (phalasamāpatti) of a trainee; for one emerging from cessation (nirodha), the sphere of neither-perception-nor-non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana) is a condition, by immediacy condition, for the fruition attainment of a trainee.
