[1298] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is neither of trainees nor of those beyond training (nevasekkhanāsekkha) is a condition for a phenomenon that is neither of trainees nor of those beyond training by presence condition (atthi-paccaya): conascent (sahajāta), prenascent (purejāta), postnascent (pacchājāta), nutriment (āhāra), faculty (indriya). Conascent: one aggregate (khandha) that is neither of trainees nor of those beyond training is a condition for three aggregates and for the mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) by presence condition; two aggregates … At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi), the aggregates are a condition for the base (vatthu) by presence condition; the base is a condition for the aggregates by presence condition. … One great element (mahābhūta) … external. (Abbreviated.) For non-percipient beings (asaññasatta) … Prenascent: one contemplates the eye (cakkhu) with insight as impermanent (anicca), as suffering (dukkha), as not-self (anattā); one relishes it and delights in it; with that as object, lust (rāga) arises, grief (domanassa) … The ear (sota) … one contemplates the base with insight as impermanent … With the divine eye (dibbacakkhu) … form; with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu) … sound … The form base (rūpāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa), the tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa), the eye base (cakkhāyatana) for eye-consciousness, the body base (kāyāyatana) for body-consciousness; the base is a condition for the aggregates that are neither of trainees nor of those beyond training by presence condition. Postnascent: the aggregates that are neither of trainees nor of those beyond training are a condition for this prenascent body by presence condition. Edible nutriment (kabaḷīkāra āhāra) is a condition for this body, and the material life faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) is a condition for the kamma-born forms (kaṭattā-rūpa), by presence condition.
