[982] A phenomenon (dhamma) with root to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development (neva-dassanena-na-bhāvanāya-pahātabba-hetuka) is a condition, by presence condition (atthi-paccaya), for a phenomenon with root to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development: conascent (sahajāta), prenascent (purejāta), postnascent (pacchājāta), nutriment (āhāra), faculty (indriya).
Conascent: One aggregate (khandha) with root to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development is a condition, by presence condition, for three aggregates and for the forms originated by mind (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa). Delusion (moha) accompanied by doubt (vicikicchā), accompanied by restlessness (uddhacca), is a condition, by presence condition, for the forms originated by mind. At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi); for the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā) …
Prenascent: The eye (cakkhu) … the base (vatthu) … as impermanent … One sees a form (rūpa) with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu); one hears a sound with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu). The form base (rūpāyatana) [is a condition] for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa), the tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa). The eye base (cakkhāyatana) … the body base (kāyāyatana) … The base is a condition, by presence condition, for the aggregates with root to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development and for delusion.
Postnascent: The aggregates with root to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development, and delusion, are a condition, by presence condition, for this prenascent body. Edible nutriment (kabaḷīkāra āhāra) [is a condition] for this body; the material life faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) [is a condition] for the kamma-born forms (kaṭattārūpa).
