[1421] A limited phenomenon (paritto dhammo) is a condition for a limited phenomenon by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya):
Having given a gift (dāna), having undertaken virtue (sīla), having performed the uposatha observance (uposatha-kamma), one reviews it; one reviews what was formerly well practiced.
The noble ones review change-of-lineage (gotrabhū); they review cleansing (vodāna); they review the defilements (kilesa) that have been abandoned; they review the defilements that have been suppressed; they know the defilements that formerly occurred.
They contemplate with insight the eye … the base (vatthu) … the limited aggregates as impermanent …; they find gratification in them; they delight in them. Taking that as object, lust (rāga) arises, grief arises.
The form base (rūpāyatana) [is a condition] for the eye … the tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) is a condition for body-consciousness (kāya-viññāṇa) by object condition.
