Parittattika

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Paṭṭhāna (2) · Vol. 41 · Section 1428

[1428] A limited (paritta) phenomenon (dhamma) is a condition for a limited phenomenon by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya): object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati) and conascence-predominance (sahajātādhipati). Object-predominance: Having given a gift (dāna), having undertaken virtue (sīla), having performed the uposatha observance, one esteems that and reviews it. One esteems and reviews what was formerly well practiced. Trainees (sekkhā), esteeming change-of-lineage (gotrabhū), … esteeming cleansing (vodāna), review it. Esteeming the eye … the base (vatthu) … the limited aggregates (khandha), they relish them and delight in them; esteeming that, lust (rāga) arises, view (diṭṭhi) arises. Conascence-predominance: limited predominance is a condition for the associated aggregates and the mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) by predominance condition.
