[2150] A phenomenon with an external object (bahiddhārammaṇo dhammo) is a condition for a phenomenon with an internal object (ajjhattārammaṇo dhammo) by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya).
Object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati): Having given a gift (dāna), having undertaken virtue (sīla), having performed the uposatha observance (uposathakamma), one esteems that and reviews it; deeds formerly well done …; having emerged from jhāna …; noble ones (ariyā), having emerged from the path, the path …; having esteemed the fruition (phala) …; having esteemed the divine eye (dibbacakkhu), which is internal and has an external object, …; the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu) …; the knowledge of the modes of psychic power (iddhividha-ñāṇa) …; the knowledge encompassing the minds of others (cetopariya-ñāṇa) …; the knowledge of the recollection of past abodes (pubbenivāsānussati-ñāṇa) …; the knowledge of beings' faring according to their kamma (yathākammūpaga-ñāṇa) …; having esteemed the knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsa-ñāṇa), one reviews it. Having esteemed the internal aggregates (khandhā) that have an external object, one relishes them; having esteemed that, lust (rāga) with an internal object … wrong view (diṭṭhi) arises.
