[2196] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) that is invisible and impinging (anidassana-sappaṭigha) and a phenomenon that is invisible and non-impinging (anidassana-appaṭigha), there arises a phenomenon that is visible and impinging (sanidassana-sappaṭigha), not by object condition (na-ārammaṇapaccayā).
Dependent on the invisible-and-non-impinging aggregates (khandhā) and the primary elements (mahābhūtā), [there arises] visible-and-impinging mind-originated materiality (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa). At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), dependent on the invisible-and-non-impinging aggregates and the primary elements, [there arises] visible-and-impinging kamma-born materiality (kaṭattā-rūpa). Dependent on the invisible-and-impinging primary elements and the water element (āpo-dhātu), [there arise] visible-and-impinging mind-originated materiality and kamma-born materiality, that is, derivative materiality (upādā-rūpa). Dependent on the tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) and the water element, the form base (rūpāyatana) [arises] … external … nutriment-originated … temperature-originated … For the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), dependent on the invisible-and-impinging primary elements and the water element, [there arises] visible-and-impinging kamma-born materiality, that is, derivative materiality. In the combination (ghaṭana), all seven questions should be analyzed by this method.
