[492] A phenomenon accompanied by equanimity (upekkhāsahagato dhammo) is a condition, by way of object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya), for a phenomenon accompanied by equanimity. Having given a gift (dāna) with a mind (citta) accompanied by equanimity, having undertaken virtue (sīla), having performed the uposatha observance (uposathakamma), they review it with a mind accompanied by equanimity. Having emerged from a jhāna accompanied by equanimity … from a path (magga) … from a fruition (phala), one reviews it with a mind accompanied by equanimity. The noble ones (ariyā), with a mind accompanied by equanimity, review the abandoned defilement (kilesa) accompanied by equanimity; they review the suppressed defilement; they know the defilements formerly indulged in. They contemplate with insight, with a mind accompanied by equanimity, the aggregates (khandhā) accompanied by equanimity as impermanent (anicca), as suffering (dukkha), as non-self (anattā); they relish them, they delight in them; with that as object, lust (rāga) accompanied by equanimity arises, wrong view (diṭṭhi) arises, doubt (vicikicchā) arises, restlessness (uddhacca) arises. With the knowledge of penetrating the minds of others (cetopariyañāṇa), one knows the mind of a person endowed with a mind accompanied by equanimity. The sphere of the infinity of space (ākāsānañcāyatana) is a condition, by way of object condition, for the sphere of the infinity of consciousness (viññāṇañcāyatana); the sphere of nothingness (ākiñcaññāyatana) is a condition, by way of object condition, for the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana). Aggregates accompanied by equanimity are a condition, by way of object condition, for the knowledge (ñāṇa) of supernormal power (iddhividhañāṇa), for the knowledge of penetrating the minds of others, for the knowledge of the recollection of past lives (pubbenivāsānussatiñāṇa), for the knowledge of how beings fare according to their kamma (yathākammūpagañāṇa), for the knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsañāṇa), and for adverting (āvajjana). With aggregates accompanied by equanimity as object, aggregates accompanied by equanimity arise.
