[607] A phenomenon (dhamma) to be abandoned neither by seeing (dassana) nor by mental development (bhāvanā) … not by faculty condition (na indriya-paccayā): external [matter] (bāhira) … nutriment-originated [matter] (āhārasamuṭṭhāna) … temperature-originated [matter] (utusamuṭṭhāna) […] one primary element (ekaṃ mahābhūtaṃ) …; for the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), the material life-faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) [arises] dependent on the primary elements.
