The faculties (indriya) whose roots are to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development [are a condition] for the associated aggregates (sampayuttaka-khandha). (Abridged.) The eye faculty (cakkhundriya) [is a condition] for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa); the body faculty (kāyindriya) … ; the material life faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) is a condition for kamma-born material phenomena (kaṭattā-rūpa) by faculty condition (indriya-paccaya).
[It] is a condition by absorption condition (jhāna-paccaya); [it] is a condition by path condition (magga-paccaya). These are to be done as [phenomena] accompanied by roots (sahetuka).
[It] is a condition by association condition (sampayutta-paccaya). In the dependence section (paṭicca-vāra), [this is] similar to the association section (sampayutta-vāra).
