[176] A phenomenon (dhamma) with condition (sappaccaya) is a condition for a phenomenon with condition by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya): Having given a gift (dāna), having undertaken virtue (sīla), the uposatha observance (uposatha-kamma) … one reviews it; one reviews what was formerly well practised; having emerged from jhāna, one reviews the jhāna. Noble ones (ariyā), having emerged from the path (magga), review the path, they review the fruit (phala); they review the defilements (kilesa) that have been abandoned …, they review the defilements that have been suppressed, they know the defilements formerly indulged in. The eye … the base (vatthu) … the aggregates (khandhā) with condition as impermanent (anicca) … grief (domanassa) arises. One sees a form (rūpa) with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu), hears a sound with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu); by the knowledge that penetrates the minds of others (cetopariyañāṇa) one knows the mind (citta) of one who possesses a mind with condition. The base of the infinity of space (ākāsānañcāyatana), the base of the infinity of consciousness (viññāṇañcāyatana), and the base of nothingness (ākiñcaññāyatana) [are conditions] for the base of neither-perception-nor-non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana); the form base (rūpāyatana) [is a condition] for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa); the tangible-object base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa); the aggregates with condition [are conditions] for the knowledge of supernormal power (iddhividha-ñāṇa), for the knowledge that penetrates the minds of others, for the knowledge (ñāṇa) of the recollection of past lives (pubbenivāsānussati-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of beings' faring according to their kamma (yathākammūpaga-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsa-ñāṇa), and for adverting (āvajjana) — by object condition.
A phenomenon without condition (appaccaya) is a condition for a phenomenon with condition by object condition: Noble ones review Nibbāna. Nibbāna is a condition for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū), for purification (vodāna), for the path, for the fruit, and for adverting — by object condition.
