[304] A mundane phenomenon (lokiyo dhammo) is a condition for a mundane phenomenon by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya): A gift (dāna) … virtue (sīla) … having performed the Uposatha observance (uposathakamma), one reviews it. One reviews things formerly well practiced. From jhāna … Noble ones (ariyā) review change-of-lineage (gotrabhū); they review cleansing (vodāna); they review the defilements (kilesā) that have been abandoned; they review the defilements that have been suppressed; they know the defilements that formerly occurred. The eye … the base (vatthu) … the mundane aggregates (khandhā) as impermanent (aniccato) … grief (domanassa) arises. One sees a form (rūpa) with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu); one hears a sound with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu). By the knowledge (ñāṇa) that encompasses the minds of others (cetopariyañāṇa) one knows the mind (citta) of one endowed with a mundane mind. The base of the infinity of space (ākāsānañcāyatana) is a condition for the base of the infinity of consciousness (viññāṇañcāyatana), the base of nothingness (ākiñcaññāyatana) for the base of neither-perception-nor-non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana), the form base (rūpāyatana) for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa), the tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa); and the mundane aggregates are a condition, by object condition, for the knowledge of the modes of psychic power (iddhividhañāṇa), for the knowledge that encompasses the minds of others, for the knowledge of the recollection of past lives (pubbenivāsānussatiñāṇa), for the knowledge of how beings fare according to their kamma (yathākammūpagañāṇa), for the knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsañāṇa), and for adverting (āvajjana).
A supramundane phenomenon (lokuttaro dhammo) is a condition for a supramundane phenomenon by object condition: Nibbāna is a condition, by object condition, for the path (magga) and for fruition (phala).
A supramundane phenomenon is a condition for a mundane phenomenon by object condition: Noble ones, having emerged from the path, review the path; they review fruition; they review Nibbāna. Nibbāna is a condition, by object condition, for change-of-lineage, for cleansing, and for adverting. Noble ones, by the knowledge that encompasses the minds of others, know the mind of one endowed with a supramundane mind. The supramundane aggregates are a condition, by object condition, for the knowledge that encompasses the minds of others, for the knowledge of the recollection of past lives, for the knowledge of the future, and for adverting.
