[1694] A not-fixed phenomenon (aniyato dhammo) is a condition for a not-fixed phenomenon by way of object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya). Having given a gift (dāna), having undertaken virtue (sīla), having performed the uposatha observance (uposatha-kamma), they review it; they review what was formerly well practiced …; having emerged from jhāna, they review the jhāna. The noble ones review fruition (phala); they review Nibbāna. Nibbāna is a condition for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū), for cleansing (vodāna), for fruition, and for adverting (āvajjanā), by way of object condition. The noble ones review the abandoned defilements (kilesa) that are not-fixed; the suppressed defilements …; those formerly arisen … The eye … the base (vatthu) … they contemplate the not-fixed aggregates (khandhā) with insight as impermanent (anicca), as suffering (dukkha), as not-self (anattā); they relish them, they delight in them. Taking that as object, not-fixed lust (rāga) … grief (domanassa) arises. With the divine eye (dibbacakkhu) one sees a form (rūpa); with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu) one hears a sound; by the knowledge (ñāṇa) encompassing the minds of others (cetopariyañāṇa) one knows the mind (citta) of one who possesses a not-fixed mind. The sphere of infinity of space (ākāsānañcāyatana) is a condition for the sphere of infinity of consciousness (viññāṇañcāyatana), the sphere of nothingness (ākiñcaññāyatana) for the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana), by way of object condition. The form base (rūpāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa), the tangible-object base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa), by way of object condition. Not-fixed aggregates are a condition for the knowledge of supernormal powers (iddhividha-ñāṇa), for the knowledge encompassing the minds of others, for the knowledge of the remembrance of former existences (pubbenivāsānussati-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of beings' faring according to their kamma (yathākammūpaga-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsa-ñāṇa), and for adverting, by way of object condition.
