[829] A phenomenon (dhamma) that leads out (niyyānika) is a condition for a phenomenon that does not lead out (aniyyānika) by way of object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya):
The noble ones (ariyā), having emerged from the path (magga), review the path. By the knowledge of the minds of others (cetopariyañāṇa) they know the mind (citta) of one endowed with a mind that leads out. Aggregates (khandhā) that lead out are a condition, by way of object condition, for the knowledge of the minds of others, for the knowledge of the recollection of past lives (pubbe …pe…), for the knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsañāṇa), and for adverting (āvajjana).
A phenomenon that does not lead out is a condition for a phenomenon that does not lead out by way of object condition:
A gift (dāna) … virtue (sīla) … having performed the uposatha observance (uposathakamma), one reviews it, relishes it, and delights in it; on account of that, lust (rāga) arises, … grief (domanassa) arises. What was formerly well practiced … from jhāna … The noble ones review the fruit (phala); they review Nibbāna. Nibbāna is a condition, by way of object condition, for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū), for cleansing (vodāna), for the fruit, and for adverting. The noble ones [review] defilements (kilesa) that have been abandoned … defilements that have been suppressed … those formerly habitually arisen … [One contemplates] the eye … the base (vatthu) … aggregates that do not lead out as impermanent … grief arises. One sees a form (rūpa) with the divine eye, hears a sound with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu), and by the knowledge of the minds of others knows the mind of one endowed with a mind that does not lead out. The sphere of the infinity of space (ākāsānañcāyatana) [is a condition] for the sphere of the infinity of consciousness (viññāṇañcāyatana), the sphere of nothingness (ākiñcaññāyatana) for the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana), the form base (rūpāyatana) for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa), the tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa). Aggregates that do not lead out are a condition, by way of object condition, for the knowledge of supernormal power (iddhividhañāṇa), for the knowledge of the minds of others, for the knowledge of the recollection of past lives (pubbenivāsānussatiñāṇa), for the knowledge of beings' faring according to their kamma (yathākammupagañāṇa), for the knowledge of the future, and for adverting.
A phenomenon that does not lead out is a condition for a phenomenon that leads out by way of object condition: Nibbāna is a condition for the path by way of object condition.
