[235] A phenomenon (dhamma) with impingement (sappaṭigha) is a condition for a phenomenon without impingement (appaṭigha) by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya):
Object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati): Having given weight to the eye … tangible objects, one relishes and delights in them; having given weight to that, lust (rāga) arises, wrong view (diṭṭhi) arises.
A phenomenon without impingement is a condition for a phenomenon without impingement by predominance condition: object-predominance and conascence-predominance (sahajātādhipati).
Object-predominance: Giving (dāna) … virtue (sīla) … the Uposatha observance (uposatha-kamma) … having given weight to that … [deeds] formerly well practiced … Having emerged from jhāna, one reviews the jhāna, having given weight to it. The noble ones, having emerged from the path, having given weight to the path … having given weight to the fruition … Nibbāna is a condition for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū), for purification (vodāna), for the path, and for the fruition by predominance condition. Having given weight to the base (vatthu) … the femininity faculty (itthindriya), the masculinity faculty (purisindriya), the life faculty (jīvitindriya), the water element (āpo-dhātu) … edible food (kabaḷīkāra āhāra), one relishes and delights in them; having given weight to that, lust arises, wrong view arises.
Conascence-predominance: The predominant [factor] that is without impingement is a condition for the associated aggregates (khandha) and for mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) that are without impingement by predominance condition.
A phenomenon without impingement is a condition for a phenomenon with impingement by predominance condition: The predominant [factor] that is without impingement is a condition for mind-originated forms that are with impingement by predominance condition.
