[284] A material phenomenon (rūpī dhamma) is a condition for a material phenomenon by presence condition (atthi-paccaya): conascent (sahajāta), nutriment (āhāra), faculty (indriya). Conascent: one great element (mahābhūta) … up to the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā). Edible nutriment (kabaḷīkārāhāra) is a condition for this body by presence condition; the material life-faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) is a condition for kamma-born matter (kaṭattārūpa) by presence condition. A material phenomenon is a condition for an immaterial phenomenon (arūpī dhamma) by presence condition: conascent, prenascent (purejāta).
