[594] A hindrance phenomenon (nīvaraṇo dhammo) is a condition for a hindrance phenomenon by root condition (hetu-paccaya): roots (hetū) that are hindrances (nīvaraṇa) are a condition for the associated (sampayuttaka) hindrances by root condition.
A hindrance phenomenon is a condition for a non-hindrance phenomenon (no-nīvaraṇo dhammo) by root condition: roots that are hindrances are a condition for the associated aggregates (khandhā) and for the mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) by root condition.
