[599] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is not a hindrance (nīvaraṇa) is a condition for a phenomenon that is not a hindrance by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta), base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta). Object-prenascence: the eye … the base (vatthu) as impermanent … grief (domanassa) arises. Three [cases]. The prenascence [condition], being similar to the object [condition] (ārammaṇa), should be analyzed as to the wholesome (kusala) and the unwholesome (akusala).
