[12] Conditioned by a phenomenon with an object (sārammaṇa dhamma), a phenomenon with an object arises, not by way of root condition (na-hetupaccayā): three [cases], similar to [those of] the paṭicca [section]. Conditioned by a phenomenon without an object (anārammaṇa dhamma), a phenomenon without an object arises, not by way of root condition: [conditioned by] one great essential (mahābhūta) … ; for the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), [conditioned by] one great essential … . Conditioned by a phenomenon without an object, a phenomenon with an object arises, not by way of root condition: conditioned by the eye base (cakkhāyatana), eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa) [arises]; conditioned by the body base (kāyāyatana), body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa) [arises]; conditioned by the base (vatthu), the rootless (ahetuka) aggregates (khandhā) with an object [arise], [and] at the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi) [they arise] conditioned by the base; delusion (moha) accompanied by doubt (vicikicchā), accompanied by restlessness (uddhacca), [arises]. Conditioned by a phenomenon without an object, a phenomenon with an object and a phenomenon without an object arise, not by way of root condition: conditioned by the base, the aggregates with an object [arise]; conditioned by the great essentials, mind-originated form (cittasamuṭṭhāna rūpa) [arises]; [so too at] rebirth-linking. Conditioned by a phenomenon with an object and a phenomenon without an object, a phenomenon with an object arises, not by way of root condition: conditioned by one aggregate accompanied by eye-consciousness and by the eye base, three aggregates [arise]; [conditioned by] two aggregates … ; [conditioned by one aggregate] accompanied by body-consciousness … ; conditioned by one aggregate with an object and by the base, three aggregates [arise]; [conditioned by] two aggregates … ; [so too at] rebirth-linking. Conditioned by a phenomenon with an object and a phenomenon without an object, a phenomenon without an object arises, not by way of root condition: conditioned by the aggregates with an object and by the great essentials, mind-originated form [arises]; [so too at] rebirth-linking.
