[256] Dependent on an internal phenomenon (ajjhattika dhamma), an internal phenomenon arises by root condition (hetu-paccaya): at the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), dependent on the mind (citta), internal kamma-born materiality (kaṭattārūpa) [arises]. Dependent on an internal phenomenon, an external phenomenon (bāhira dhamma) arises by root condition: dependent on the mind, the associated aggregates (sampayuttakā khandhā) and mind-originated materiality (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) [arise]; at the moment of rebirth-linking, dependent on the mind, the associated aggregates and external kamma-born materiality [arise].
