[279] An internal phenomenon (ajjhattika dhamma) is a condition for an internal phenomenon by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya): object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya) … Natural decisive-support: mind (citta) is a condition for mind by decisive-support condition. An external phenomenon (bāhira dhamma) is a condition for an external phenomenon by decisive-support condition: object decisive-support, proximity decisive-support, natural decisive-support … Natural decisive-support: in dependence on faith (saddhā), one gives a gift (dāna), gives rise to conceit (māna), grasps a view (diṭṭhi); in dependence on virtue (sīla) … on lodging (senāsana), one gives a gift … creates a schism in the Saṅgha. Faith … lodging is a condition, by decisive-support condition, for faith … for the attainment of fruition (phala-samāpatti). All three should be elaborated in full; they should be done as "for the mind," and they should be done as "and for the associated states (sampayuttakā)."
