[579] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is not to be abandoned by seeing (na dassanena pahātabba) is a condition, by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is not to be abandoned by seeing: object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta), base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: one sees with insight the eye (cakkhu) … the base (vatthu) as impermanent …; one relishes it and delights in it. With that as object, lust (rāga) that is not to be abandoned by seeing … restlessness (uddhacca) … grief (domanassa) that is not to be abandoned by seeing arises. With the divine eye (dibbacakkhu) … the tangible-object base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) is a condition for body-consciousness (kāya-viññāṇa).
Base-prenascence: the eye base (cakkhāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness (cakkhu-viññāṇa); the body base (kāyāyatana) …; the base is a condition, by prenascence condition, for the aggregates (khandhā) that are not to be abandoned by seeing.
A phenomenon that is not to be abandoned by seeing is a condition, by prenascence condition, for a phenomenon that is to be abandoned by seeing (dassanena pahātabba): object-prenascence, base-prenascence.
Object-prenascence: one relishes and delights in the eye … the base. With that as object, lust that is to be abandoned by seeing … wrong view (diṭṭhi) … doubt (vicikicchā) … grief that is to be abandoned by seeing arises.
Base-prenascence: the base is a condition, by prenascence condition, for the aggregates that are to be abandoned by seeing.
