[599] A phenomenon (dhamma) not to be abandoned by development (bhāvanāya pahātabba) is a condition for a phenomenon not to be abandoned by development by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta), base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: one contemplates with insight the eye (cakkhu) … the base (vatthu) as impermanent …; one relishes and delights in it. With that as object, lust (rāga) not to be abandoned by development arises, wrong view (diṭṭhi) arises, doubt (vicikicchā) arises, grief (domanassa) not to be abandoned by development arises. With the divine eye … the tangible-object base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) [is a condition] for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa).
Base-prenascence: the eye base (cakkhāyatana) [is a condition] for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa), the body base (kāyāyatana) for body-consciousness; the base is a condition for the aggregates (khandhā) not to be abandoned by development by prenascence condition.
A phenomenon not to be abandoned by development is a condition for a phenomenon to be abandoned by development by prenascence condition: object-prenascence, base-prenascence.
Object-prenascence: one relishes and delights in the eye … the base. With that as object, lust to be abandoned by development arises, restlessness (uddhacca) arises, grief to be abandoned by development arises.
Base-prenascence: the base is a condition for the aggregates to be abandoned by development by prenascence condition.
