[517] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is not a tie (gantha) is a condition for a phenomenon that is not a tie by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta), base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: the eye (cakkhu) … the base (vatthu) as impermanent … grief (domanassa) arises. One sees a form (rūpa) with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu); one hears a sound with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu). The form base (rūpāyatana) [is a condition] for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa), the tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa).
Base-prenascence: the eye base (cakkhāyatana) [is a condition] for eye-consciousness, the body base (kāyāyatana) for body-consciousness; the base is a condition for the aggregates (khandhā) that are not ties by prenascence condition.
A phenomenon that is not a tie is a condition for a phenomenon that is a tie by prenascence condition: object-prenascence, base-prenascence.
Object-prenascence: one relishes and delights in the eye … the base; with that as object, lust (rāga) arises, view (diṭṭhi) arises … grief arises.
Base-prenascence: the base is a condition for the ties by prenascence condition.
A phenomenon that is not a tie is a condition for a phenomenon that is a tie and for a phenomenon that is not a tie by prenascence condition: object-prenascence, base-prenascence.
Object-prenascence: one relishes and delights in the eye … the base; with that as object, lust arises, view … … grief arises; ties and the associated (sampayuttaka) aggregates arise.
Base-prenascence: the base is a condition for the ties and the associated aggregates by prenascence condition.
