[104] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is not a mental factor (acetasika) is a condition for a phenomenon that is not a mental factor by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta) and base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: One contemplates with insight the eye … the (heart-)base (vatthu) as impermanent; one relishes and delights in it; taking that as object, mind (citta) arises. One sees a form (rūpa) with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu); one hears a sound (sadda) with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu). The form base (rūpāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa), the tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa).
Base-prenascence: The eye base (cakkhāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness, the body base (kāyāyatana) for body-consciousness; the (heart-)base is a condition for mind by prenascence condition.
