[433] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is not a fetter (saññojana) is a condition (paccaya) for a phenomenon that is not a fetter by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta) and base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: the eye (cakkhu) … the base (vatthu) as impermanent … grief (domanassa) arises. One sees a form with the divine eye (dibba-cakkhu); one hears a sound with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu). The form base (rūpāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness (cakkhu-viññāṇa), and the tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) for body-consciousness (kāya-viññāṇa), by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya).
Base-prenascence: the eye base (cakkhāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness, the body base (kāyāyatana) for body-consciousness; the base is a condition for the aggregates (khandhā) that are not fetters by prenascence condition.
A phenomenon that is not a fetter is a condition for a phenomenon that is a fetter by prenascence condition: object-prenascence and base-prenascence.
Object-prenascence: one relishes and delights in the eye … the base; on account of that, lust (rāga) … grief arises.
Base-prenascence: the base is a condition for the fetters by prenascence condition.
A phenomenon that is not a fetter is a condition both for a phenomenon that is a fetter and for a phenomenon that is not a fetter by prenascence condition: object-prenascence and base-prenascence.
Object-prenascence: one relishes and delights in the eye … the base; on account of that, fetters and the associated aggregates (sampayuttakā khandhā) arise.
Base-prenascence: the base is a condition for the fetters and the associated aggregates by prenascence condition.
