[348] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is not a taint (āsava) is a condition for a phenomenon that is not a taint by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta) and base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: the eye … the base (vatthu) … it should be elaborated in this way. The tangible-object base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) is a condition for body-consciousness (kāya-viññāṇa) by prenascence condition.
Base-prenascence: the eye base (cakkhāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness (cakkhu-viññāṇa), the body base (kāyāyatana) for body-consciousness, and the base for the aggregates (khandhā) that are not taints, by prenascence condition.
A phenomenon that is not a taint is a condition for a phenomenon that is a taint by prenascence condition: object-prenascence and base-prenascence.
Object-prenascence: one enjoys and delights in the eye … the base; taking that as object, taints arise.
Base-prenascence: the base is a condition for the taints by prenascence condition.
A phenomenon that is not a taint is a condition for a phenomenon that is a taint and for a phenomenon that is not a taint by prenascence condition: object-prenascence and base-prenascence.
Object-prenascence: one enjoys and delights in the eye; taking that as object, the taints and the associated (sampayuttaka) aggregates arise.
Base-prenascence: the base is a condition for the taints and for the aggregates associated with taints by prenascence condition.
