[871] A phenomenon (dhamma) with conflict (saraṇa) is a condition for a phenomenon with conflict by presence condition (atthi-paccaya). A phenomenon with conflict is a condition for a phenomenon without conflict (araṇa) by presence condition: conascence (sahajāta), postnascence (pacchājāta). A phenomenon with conflict is a condition for a phenomenon with conflict and for a phenomenon without conflict by presence condition. A phenomenon without conflict is a condition for a phenomenon without conflict by presence condition: conascence, prenascence (purejāta), postnascence, nutriment (āhāra), faculty (indriya). A phenomenon without conflict is a condition for a phenomenon with conflict by presence condition: conascence, prenascence. One relishes and delights in the eye (cakkhu) … the base (vatthu); with that as object, lust (rāga) arises … grief (domanassa) arises. The base is a condition for the aggregates (khandhā) with conflict by presence condition. A phenomenon with conflict and a phenomenon without conflict are a condition for a phenomenon with conflict by presence condition: conascence, prenascence. A phenomenon with conflict and a phenomenon without conflict are a condition for a phenomenon without conflict by presence condition: conascence, postnascence, nutriment, faculty. Conascent: the aggregates with conflict and the primary elements (mahābhūtā) are a condition for mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) by presence condition. Postnascent: the aggregates with conflict and edible nutriment (kabaḷīkāra āhāra) are a condition for this body by presence condition. Postnascent: the aggregates with conflict and the material life-faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) are a condition for kamma-born forms (kaṭattā-rūpa) by presence condition.
