[188] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) that is a root (hetu), clung-to and subject to clinging (upādinnupādāniya), there arises a phenomenon that is a root, clung-to and subject to clinging, not by predominance condition (na-adhipati-paccaya): nine.
