[278] "And thus, bhikkhus, should it be done. First, the bhikkhu Ariṭṭha, formerly a vulture-killer (gandhabādhipubba), should be charged; having charged him, he should be made to acknowledge; having made him acknowledge, the offence should be determined against him; having determined the offence, a competent, capable bhikkhu should inform the Saṅgha:
"'Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. In the bhikkhu Ariṭṭha, formerly a vulture-killer, such an evil view as this has arisen: "As I understand the Dhamma taught by the Blessed One, those things declared by the Blessed One to be obstructive are not truly able to obstruct one who indulges in them." He does not relinquish that view. If it is the right time for the Saṅgha, let the Saṅgha carry out an act of suspension against the bhikkhu Ariṭṭha, formerly a vulture-killer, for not relinquishing his evil view — prohibiting commensality with the Saṅgha. This is the motion.

"And, bhikkhus, announce from residence to residence in succession: 'The bhikkhu Ariṭṭha, formerly a vulture-killer, has had an act of suspension carried out against him by the Saṅgha for not relinquishing his evil view — prohibited from commensality with the Saṅgha.'"
