[385] The Saṅgha should be informed by a competent, capable bhikkhu: "Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu Udāyī has committed one offence (āpatti) of intentional emission of semen (sañcetanikā sukkavisaṭṭhi), concealed for one day. He asks the Saṅgha for one day's probation (ekāhaparivāsa) for the one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. If it seems fitting to the Saṅgha, the Saṅgha should grant the bhikkhu Udāyī one day's probation for the one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. This is the motion (ñatti). "Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu Udāyī has committed one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. He asks the Saṅgha for one day's probation for the one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. The Saṅgha grants the bhikkhu Udāyī one day's probation for the one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. Whichever venerable one approves of the granting to the bhikkhu Udāyī of one day's probation for the one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day, let him be silent; whoever does not approve, let him speak. "For a second time also I speak on this matter. … "For a third time also I speak on this matter. Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. "One day's probation for the one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day, has been granted by the Saṅgha to the bhikkhu Udāyī. It is approved by the Saṅgha; therefore it is silent. Thus do I hold it."
