[414] The Saṅgha should be informed by a competent and capable bhikkhu:
"Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu Udāyi committed one offence (āpatti) of intentional emission of semen (sañcetanikā sukkavisaṭṭhi), concealed for five days. He requested from the Saṅgha five days' probation (parivāsa) for the one offence of intentional emission of semen concealed for five days. The Saṅgha granted the bhikkhu Udāyi five days' probation for the one offence of intentional emission of semen concealed for five days. While undergoing probation, he committed in the interval one offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. He requested from the Saṅgha, for the one interval offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed, the sending back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassana). The Saṅgha sent the bhikkhu Udāyi back to the beginning for the one interval offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. Having completed probation and being deserving of mānatta, he committed in the interval one offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. He requested from the Saṅgha, for the one interval offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed, the sending back to the beginning. The Saṅgha sent the bhikkhu Udāyi back to the beginning for the one interval offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. Having completed probation, he requested from the Saṅgha six nights' mānatta for the three offences. The Saṅgha granted the bhikkhu Udāyi six nights' mānatta for the three offences. While undergoing mānatta, he committed in the interval one offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. He requested from the Saṅgha, for the one interval offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed, the sending back to the beginning. The Saṅgha sent the bhikkhu Udāyi back to the beginning for the one interval offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. He requested from the Saṅgha six nights' mānatta for the one interval offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. The Saṅgha granted the bhikkhu Udāyi six nights' mānatta for the one interval offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. Having completed mānatta and being deserving of rehabilitation (abbhāna), he committed in the interval one offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. He requested from the Saṅgha, for the one interval offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed, the sending back to the beginning. The Saṅgha sent the bhikkhu Udāyi back to the beginning for the one interval offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. He requested from the Saṅgha six nights' mānatta for the one interval offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. The Saṅgha granted the bhikkhu Udāyi six nights' mānatta for the one interval offence of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. Having completed mānatta, he requests rehabilitation from the Saṅgha. If it is timely for the Saṅgha, let the Saṅgha rehabilitate the bhikkhu Udāyi. This is the motion (ñatti).
"Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu Udāyi committed one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days … Having completed mānatta, he requests rehabilitation from the Saṅgha. The Saṅgha rehabilitates the bhikkhu Udāyi. Whichever venerable one approves of the rehabilitation of the bhikkhu Udāyi should remain silent; whoever does not approve should speak.
"For a second time also I declare this matter … For a third time also I declare this matter …
"The bhikkhu Udāyi has been rehabilitated by the Saṅgha. It is approved by the Saṅgha; therefore it is silent. Thus I hold it."
