[390] "Bhikkhus, and this is how he should be rehabilitated (abbhāna). Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu Udāyī should approach the Saṅgha, arrange his upper robe over one shoulder, pay homage at the feet of the senior bhikkhus, sit down on his heels, raise his joined palms, and say thus:
'Venerable sirs, I committed one offence (āpatti) of intentional emission of semen (sañcetanikā sukkavisaṭṭhi), concealed for one day. For that one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day, I requested from the Saṅgha one day's probation (parivāsa). The Saṅgha granted me one day's probation for that one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. Having completed the probation, I requested from the Saṅgha six nights' mānatta for that one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. The Saṅgha granted me six nights' mānatta for that one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. Venerable sirs, having observed the mānatta, I request rehabilitation from the Saṅgha. …
For a second time, venerable sirs, I request rehabilitation from the Saṅgha. Venerable sirs, I committed one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. For that one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day, I requested from the Saṅgha one day's probation. The Saṅgha granted me one day's probation for that one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. Having completed the probation, I requested from the Saṅgha six nights' mānatta for that one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. The Saṅgha granted me six nights' mānatta for that one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. Having observed the mānatta, for a third time, venerable sirs, I request rehabilitation from the Saṅgha.'"
