[467] And thus, bhikkhus, should it be given. Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu should approach the Saṅgha, arrange his upper robe over one shoulder, pay homage at the feet of the senior bhikkhus, sit down on his heels, raise his joined palms, and say this:
"Venerable sirs, I have committed multiple saṅghādisesa offenses. I do not know the limit of the offenses; I do not know the limit of the nights. I do not remember the limit of the offenses; I do not remember the limit of the nights. I am in doubt about the limit of the offenses; I am in doubt about the limit of the nights. Venerable sirs, I request from the Saṅgha the purificatory probation (suddhantaparivāsa) for those offenses."
The request should be made a second time; the request should be made a third time.
