[486] Bhikkhus, here a bhikkhu deserving rehabilitation (abbhāna) disrobes (vibbhamati). Bhikkhus, rehabilitation does not take effect for one who has disrobed. If he receives higher ordination (upasampajjati) again, that same former giving of probation (parivāsa) stands for him. The probation that was given is well given; the probation that was observed is well observed. The penance (mānatta) that was given is well given; the penance that was undertaken is well undertaken. That bhikkhu should be rehabilitated.
