[473] Bhikkhus, here a bhikkhu who is undergoing probation (parivāsa) becomes a novice (sāmaṇera). Bhikkhus, probation does not take effect for a novice. If he receives full ordination (upasampadā) again, that same former granting of probation stands for him. The probation that has been given is well given; that which has been observed is well observed; the remainder should be observed.
