[61] Bhikkhus, when an act of demotion (niyassakamma) possesses three further factors, it is an act in accordance with the Dhamma (dhammakamma), an act in accordance with the Discipline (vinayakamma), and one that is well settled: it is done after questioning has been made; it is done in accordance with the Dhamma; it is done by a united [Saṅgha]. Bhikkhus, when an act of demotion possesses these three factors, it is an act in accordance with the Dhamma, an act in accordance with the Discipline, and one that is well settled.
