[483] What are the eight suspensions of the Pātimokkha (pātimokkhaṭṭhapana) that are not in accordance with Dhamma? One suspends the Pātimokkha on account of a groundless (amūlika) failure in virtue (sīlavipatti) that was not committed; one suspends the Pātimokkha on account of a groundless failure in virtue that was committed; one suspends the Pātimokkha on account of a groundless failure in conduct (ācāravipatti) that was not committed; one suspends the Pātimokkha on account of a groundless failure in conduct that was committed; one suspends the Pātimokkha on account of a groundless failure in view (diṭṭhivipatti) that was not committed; one suspends the Pātimokkha on account of a groundless failure in view that was committed; one suspends the Pātimokkha on account of a groundless failure in livelihood (ājīvavipatti) that was not committed; one suspends the Pātimokkha on account of a groundless failure in livelihood that was committed. These are the eight suspensions of the Pātimokkha that are not in accordance with Dhamma.
