[5] "Where was the third pārājika (pārājikaṃ) laid down?" — "It was laid down at Vesālī." "Concerning whom?" — "Concerning several bhikkhus." "On account of what matter?" — "On the matter of several bhikkhus depriving one another of life." There is one laying down (paññatti), one supplementary regulation (anuppaññatti); there is no regulation laid down for a case not yet arisen (anuppannapaññatti). Of the six originations of offences (āpattisamuṭṭhāna), it originates through three originations: it may originate from body and from mind (citta), not from speech; it may originate from speech and from mind, not from body; it may originate from body, from speech, and from mind. …
