[618] "Having said to a probationer (sikkhamānā), 'If you, lady (ayye), will give me a robe, then I will ordain you,' for a bhikkhunī who neither ordains her nor makes an effort for her ordination there is an offense entailing expiation (pācittiya) — where was it laid down?"
"It was laid down at Sāvatthī."
"Concerning whom?"
"Concerning the bhikkhunī Thullanandā."
"In what matter?"
"In the matter that the bhikkhunī Thullanandā, having said to a probationer, 'If you, lady, will give me a robe, then I will ordain you,' neither ordained her nor made an effort for her ordination."
There is one laying down of the rule (paññatti). Of the six origins of offenses, it arises through one origin (as in the Dhuranikkhepa [rule]).
