Vinayapiṭaka · Bhikkhu Vibhaṅga (1) · Vol. 1 · Section 127

[127] Now at that time the group-of-six bhikkhus (chabbaggiyā bhikkhū) went to a dyers' spreading-ground and stole a dyer's bundle of cloth. They were remorseful (kukkucca), thinking: "A training rule (sikkhāpada) has been laid down by the Blessed One; can it be that we have committed an offense (āpatti) of pārājika?" They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, you have committed an offense of pārājika."
