[129] Now at that time a certain bhikkhu who went on alms round (piṇḍacārika), having seen a costly upper covering (uttaratthараṇa), aroused a thought of theft (theyyacitta). He was remorseful … "There is no offence (anāpatti), bhikkhu, in the [mere] arising of a thought."
Now at that time a certain bhikkhu who went on alms round, having seen a costly upper covering, touched it with a mind of theft. … "Bhikkhu, there is no offence entailing defeat (pārājika); there is an offence of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa)." …
