[466] A man sends a bhikkhu, saying: "Go, venerable sir; say to the women of such-and-such names — the one protected by her mother, the one protected by her father, the one protected by her mother and father, the one protected by her brother, the one protected by her sister, the one protected by her relatives, the one protected by her clan, the one protected by her co-religionists (dhamma-protected), the one already betrothed (with protection), and the one protected by the threat of punishment — 'Be, it is said, the wives of the man of such-and-such a name: a wife bought with money, a wife living together by her own desire, a wife living together for the sake of wealth, a wife living together for the sake of cloth, a water-pot wife, a wife whose head-pad has been set down, a bondwoman who is also a wife, a servant who is also a wife, a wife carried off under a banner (a captive), and a momentary (temporary) wife.'" He accepts, he inquires, he brings back the report: an offense of saṅghādisesa.
